Associate Veterinarian

About the Role

Parade Street Animal Hospital is hiring four Associate Veterinarians to join an established full-service practice serving Yarmouth and the surrounding Tri-County region of Nova Scotia. The primary location is the Yarmouth hospital, with rotation possible to satellite clinics in Barrington Passage and Lower Saulnierville (mileage paid).

You'll deliver comprehensive medical and surgical care across wellness, diagnostics, urgent care, and long-term health management for small and exotic animals. The practice is well-equipped with digital X-ray, ultrasound, in-house IDEXX laboratory systems, and Cornerstone practice management software. Recent graduates who are licensed or eligible for licensing in Nova Scotia are warmly welcomed and supported.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct physical examinations and routine health checks on small and exotic animals

• Diagnose conditions and develop treatment plans

• Prescribe medications and administer vaccinations

• Perform routine medical procedures, surgery, and dental procedures

• Order and interpret laboratory tests

• Utilize digital X-ray, ultrasound, and in-house IDEXX systems

• Perform humane euthanasia and support clients through the process

• Conduct post-mortem examinations as required

• Advise clients on nutrition, hygiene, and ongoing treatment plans

• Supervise and mentor registered veterinary technicians and assistants

• Maintain accurate medical records in Cornerstone

• Follow health and safety protocols to prevent disease transmission

Requirements

• Degree in Veterinary Medicine (DVM or equivalent)

• Licensed, or eligible for licensing, with the Nova Scotia Veterinary Medical Association

• Experience is an asset; new graduates are welcome to apply

• Working proficiency in English

• Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills

• Comfortable working both independently and within a team

• Efficient workflow management in a fast-paced clinical setting

• Ability to mentor and support veterinary staff

• Compensation: $110,000–$150,000 per year, commensurate with experience
