About the Role

Halifax Veterinary Hospital is seeking an Associate Veterinarian to join a established, community-focused practice that's been a cornerstone of animal care in Halifax since 1939. You'll work alongside two dedicated veterinarians and a supportive team of four technicians in a fully equipped facility offering surgery, dentistry, diagnostic imaging, emergency services, and more.

This is a genuine opportunity to practice medicine the way it should be — with respect for your time, access to advanced equipment, and clients who value your expertise. Whether you're passionate about surgical cases, dentistry, or both, you'll find a collegial environment where your clinical interests are supported and your well-being is prioritized. Flexible scheduling means you can tailor full-time or part-time hours to fit your life, not the other way around.

Halifax itself offers a vibrant maritime culture, waterfront access, a thriving food and craft beverage scene, outdoor recreation year-round, and a welcoming community. You'll be part of the broader VetStrategy network — over 1,000 DVMs across Canada — giving you mentorship, professional development, and collegial connection without losing the intimate feel of a neighbourhood practice.

  • Participate in emergency services as scheduled

Requirements

  • Licensed or eligible to practice veterinary medicine in Nova Scotia

  • Flexible scheduling (full-time and part-time hours available)
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • Professional liability coverage
  • Association dues and VIN membership paid by employer
  • Outstanding discounts on medical and pet supplies
  • Access to VetStrategy's network of over 1,000 DVMs for mentorship and professional support
