About the Role

This is a full-time position covering an anticipated parental leave starting around June 2026 at Rice Lake Animal Hospital, a small animal practice nestled in cottage country between Peterborough, Port Hope, and Cobourg. The team is passionate about providing excellent medical, surgical, and preventative care—and they're looking for an RVT who shares that commitment. You'll be working with a fun, family-oriented team that prioritises both client education and Fear Free techniques. The practice values flexibility, compassion, and a service-oriented approach—ideal if you're energized by a collaborative setting that doesn't tolerate burnout or siloed work.

Key Responsibilities

  • Communicate with clients and team members using professional, compassionate oral and written skills
  • Perform diagnostic testing (hematology, clinical chemistry, cytology, urinalysis) and analyse results using appropriate equipment and techniques
  • Assist veterinarians with surgical and therapeutic procedures while maintaining gold-standard aseptic protocols
  • Administer and monitor anesthesia and analgesia within your scope of practice and provincial regulations
  • Provide high-quality nursing care incorporating Fear Free principles and evidence-based techniques
  • Maintain accurate, compliant medical records following regulated procedures and standards
  • Operate and maintain state-of-the-art veterinary equipment safely
  • Execute and evaluate diagnostic imaging using advanced knowledge of radiographic principles
  • Perform dental procedures with in-depth knowledge of dental anatomy, pathology, and disease progression
  • Manage multiple priorities simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
  • Maintain medical supply inventory and support collaborative teamwork across the practice

Requirements

  • Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) credential in Ontario
  • Ability to commit to an 18-month term starting approximately June 2026
  • Full-time availability
