Work Schedule

Shared on-call rotation between veterinarians at the practice and local emergency clinic. New graduates receive mentorship.

About the Role

Community Veterinary Hospital is seeking a veterinarian to join their busy, semi-rural companion animal practice just outside Clarenville, NL. This is a chance to work with a stable, respectful team in a modern facility that's been serving the community for over 28 years. You'll enjoy a healthy staff-to-vet ratio, shared on-call duties (not solo), and the support of an integrated, sympathetic team with genuinely positive morale.

Beyond routine companion animal care, you'll have the opportunity to contribute to meaningful community work — partnering with the local SPCA, cat rescue groups, and North Atlantic Remote Veterinary Services to deliver volunteer-operated low-cost spay/neuter clinics, feline TNR programs across the island, and remote veterinary services along coastal Labrador. New graduates are especially welcome and can expect attentive mentorship.

Newfoundland offers a vibrant culture and genuine connection to nature — major shopping centres are minutes away, and scenic views, hiking trails, and outdoor adventures are always within reach. The clientele is friendly and welcoming, making this a truly community-focused practice.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality medical and surgical care for companion animals
  • Participate in shared on-call rotation with other veterinarians and the local emergency clinic
  • Contribute to community outreach programs, including SPCA partnerships, cat rescue support, and low-cost spay/neuter clinics
  • Support remote veterinary services along coastal Labrador as part of the North Atlantic Remote Veterinary Services network
  • Work collaboratively within a well-integrated team environment

Requirements

  • Valid veterinary licence (North America/Accredited)
  • Ability to reliably commute to Georges Brook, NL, or willingness to relocate with employer-provided relocation support

Benefits

  • Competitive salary: $85,000–$95,000 per year
  • Generous CE (continuing education) allowance
  • Comprehensive benefits package including extended health care, dental coverage, and life insurance
  • Medical and pet supply discounts
  • Professional liability coverage
  • Uniform allowance
  • Paid time off
  • Employer-provided relocation package (if required)
  • Attentive mentorship for new graduates
