About the Role
Trout Lake Animal Hospital is hiring a full-time veterinarian to join a team of experienced, dedicated professionals committed to delivering high-quality care. This is a genuine opportunity to practise medicine without the burden of on-call duties—no overnight emergencies, no standby shifts. You'll manage a diverse small animal caseload using your surgical and medical expertise while bringing compassion and humility to every interaction. The team sees clients who are genuinely invested in their pets' health, making the work rewarding on both sides. The hospital operates seven days a week and uses fully integrated practice management software, so you can focus on medicine, not paperwork.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose, treat, and document medical conditions independently in a general practice setting
- Perform routine soft tissue surgery and dentistry with confidence
- Conduct physical exams, develop treatment plans, and communicate clearly with clients about their pet's care
- Maintain meticulous medical records using the practice's EzyVet system
- Work collaboratively with other veterinarians and veterinary technicians
- Utilize in-house lab services (AnTech/IDEXX), digital radiography (including dental), and ultrasound imaging
- Contribute to a high-standard, client-focused practice environment
Requirements
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) from a Canadian Veterinary Medical Association-accredited institution, or equivalent veterinary degree with eligibility for a BC licence
- Minimum 1–2 years of full-time small animal medicine experience
- Proficient in routine soft tissue surgery, dentistry, and anesthesia
- Strong client communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and within a team in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent attention to detail and flexibility under pressure
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- EzyVet experience is an asset (training provided if needed)
