About the Role

Abby Veterinary Hospital & Emergency is looking for a dedicated Veterinary Assistant to support their clinical team in a fast-paced animal hospital setting. You'll work flexible evening and night shifts, gaining hands-on experience across a broad range of veterinary procedures and patient care tasks. This is a permanent, full-time position ideal for someone with 1–2 years of experience who's ready to grow in the veterinary field.

Based in Abbotsford, BC, you'll be working on-site with a team that handles everything from routine care to emergency cases. The role offers excellent exposure to surgical assistance, dental procedures, and therapeutic treatments — perfect for building your skills and expanding your veterinary knowledge.

Key Responsibilities

• Collect samples and perform laboratory tests
• Handle, restrain, and provide care for animals undergoing treatment and surgery
• Assist veterinarians before, during, and after surgical procedures
• Prepare and administer medications and vaccines under veterinarian supervision
• Administer treatments as prescribed by the veterinarian
• Counsel clients on animal health care and aftercare
• Perform routine dental procedures and assist with animal dentistry
• Provide nursing care and rehabilitation therapy for animals
• Provide wound and bandage care
• Support office management and clerical duties as needed

Requirements

• Secondary (high) school graduation certificate or equivalent
• 1 to less than 2 years of experience working in a veterinary field
• Authorization to work in Canada
• Fluent in English
• Ability to work evening and night shifts
