Veterinary Assistant

About the Role

You'll be the friendly face and steady hand that makes animals feel safe and cared for. As a Veterinary Assistant at Downtown Animal Clinic, you'll work under the direction of veterinarians and RVTs to educate clients on medication dosages, home care routines, vaccination schedules, and preventative health strategies. You'll explain laboratory procedures and testing options to pet owners, help coordinate care plans, and handle animals with the calm confidence that keeps them relaxed and secure.

This is a full-time role in a collaborative environment where communication and clinical excellence are genuinely valued. The practice prioritizes flexible scheduling, so if you need part-time work or a customized schedule, they're open to making it work.

Key Responsibilities

• Counsel and educate clients on medication dosages, administration, and purposes under veterinary/RVT supervision
• Provide guidance on home care, vaccination requirements, and preventative healthcare recommendations
• Explain laboratory procedures and testing options to pet owners and help coordinate care plans
• Greet, handle, and treat animals in a way that keeps them calm and secure
• Support the veterinary and RVT team in a collaborative clinical environment

Requirements

• Legal eligibility to work in Canada
• Strong communication skills and ability to educate clients clearly
