Veterinary Assistant

About the Role

Properties Animal Clinic is looking for a Veterinary Assistant who genuinely cares about animal welfare and client education. You'll work under the direction of veterinarians and RVTs, counselling pet owners on medication dosage and purpose, home care instructions, vaccination schedules, and preventative health options. You'll also explain laboratory procedures and testing recommendations, making sure clients feel informed and confident.

Beyond the desk, you'll greet, handle, and treat animals with the gentleness and skill that help them feel safe and secure. This is a part-time role that fits into your life, not the other way around. The team at Properties values flexibility, respect, and real collaboration—you'll work alongside experienced RVTs and assistants who actually support one another.

Key Responsibilities

• Counsel and educate clients on medication dosage, purpose, and administration
• Provide guidance on home care, vaccination requirements, and preventative healthcare
• Suggest and explain laboratory procedures and diagnostic testing options
• Greet, handle, and treat animals with compassion, ensuring a calm and safe environment
• Support the veterinary and RVT team in delivering high-quality patient care

Requirements

• Passion for animal care and client communication
• Ability to work collaboratively with veterinarians and RVTs
• Comfort handling and working with various animal species
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
