Veterinary Assistant

About the Role

As a Veterinary Assistant at Quinte Regional Pet Hospital, you'll be the bridge between the clinical team and pet owners — counselling and educating clients on medication dosage and purpose, home care, vaccinations, and preventative health strategies. Working under the direction of a Veterinarian or RVT, you'll suggest and explain laboratory procedures while helping animals feel safe and secure through confident, compassionate handling and treatment.

This is a full-time position in a small but passionate team where collaboration, communication, and clinical excellence are the norm. The practice welcomes flexible scheduling options to support your life outside of work.

Key Responsibilities

• Counsel and educate clients on medication dosage, purpose, and administration under veterinary or RVT supervision
• Provide guidance on home care, vaccination requirements, and preventative healthcare recommendations
• Greet, handle, and treat animals in a calm, reassuring manner that prioritizes their comfort and safety
• Collaborate with the team to suggest and explain laboratory procedures and diagnostic testing
• Contribute to a welcoming, warm environment that reflects the practice's community-focused values

Requirements

• Legal eligibility to work in Canada
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
