Board-certified dermatologist opportunity in Canada's capital. Join a thriving multidisciplinary specialty practice with a collaborative team, advanced diagnostics, and 300+ referring veterinarians bringing diverse cases your way.

About the Role

Alta Vista Animal Hospital is seeking a full-time, permanent Board-eligible or Board-certified Veterinary Dermatologist to join a dynamic specialty team in Ottawa. You'll be working alongside five other board-certified specialists (Internal Medicine, Critical Care, Cardiology, Oncology, and Ophthalmology) in a 24,500 sq. ft. facility that combines a 24-hour emergency service with a robust general practice. This is a unique opportunity to practice specialist dermatology at a high level while being part of a genuinely collaborative group that supports one another.

The practice draws from a large referral community of over 300 general practice and emergency hospitals across the region, ensuring you'll see a challenging and diverse caseload. You'll have access to an impressive suite of on-site diagnostic imaging—including a Toshiba 64-slice CT, 0.25T MRI, fluoroscopy, advanced ultrasound, endoscopy, and digital radiography—giving you the tools to deliver exceptional care.

Requirements include a DVM degree and ACVD board certification (or eligibility), along with licensure in Ontario.

If mentorship and leadership appeal to you, you'll also have the opportunity to train and guide interns and veterinary technicians.

Ottawa itself is a remarkable place to live and work. Located 20 minutes south of the vibrant downtown, you're in Canada's capital with world-class attractions at your doorstep: Parliament Hill, the country's national museums, the UNESCO-listed Rideau Canal (perfect for paddling, cruising, and winter skating), and thriving neighbourhoods on both sides of the Ottawa River offering craft breweries, farm-to-table dining, and local shopping. Outdoor enthusiasts will find year-round recreation—cycling, rafting, hiking, and skiing—plus signature events like Winterlude, the Canadian Tulip Festival, and Bluesfest that bring colour and excitement throughout the seasons.
