Join a mission-driven non-profit where your skills directly save lives. RAPS Animal Hospital offers meaningful work, industry-leading equipment, and a team that actually respects work-life balance.

About the Role

This is your chance to practice veterinary medicine with purpose. RAPS Animal Hospital + Urgent Care, operated by the Regional Animal Protection Society, is a non-profit facility where every shift contributes to something bigger than profit — you're helping animals and their people while supporting Canada's largest cat sanctuary and community programs that reach endangered and homeless animals across the region.

You'll work in a modern, 6,000 sq ft facility equipped with industry-leading diagnostic and surgical equipment. The team includes compassionate DVMs, RVTs, and support staff all committed to providing individualized attention to patients and fostering a respectful, balanced work environment where your growth matters. Whether you're assisting with complex surgeries, providing shelter medicine care, or supporting urgent cases, you'll develop expertise in a progressive hospital setting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide exceptional medical care to animals under DVM supervision, including taking vital signs, collecting samples, administering medications and vaccines, and bandaging wounds
  • Support surgical procedures by preparing instruments and the surgical site, restraining animals, monitoring anesthesia, placing catheters, and maintaining sterile conditions
  • Conduct animal examinations and interviews; review care plans and medical records; complete laboratory tests, diagnostic imaging, and other diagnostic studies
  • Perform hydrotherapy, physical therapy, and inhalation therapy as directed
  • Maintain animal comfort and safety by feeding, watering, and cleaning holding areas and equipment; observe for clinical signs of disease
  • Support hospital operations by sterilizing and wrapping instruments, sanitizing areas, managing sterile supply inventory, and verifying medication shelf life
  • Deliver professional client communication in person, by phone, and through electronic channels, explaining patient status and representing RAPS with professionalism
  • Maintain a safe, secure, and humane environment by following all standards and protocols

  • Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) credential or equivalent veterinary technician qualification
  • Full-time availability, starting as soon as possible
