About the Role

Newton Animal Hospital is a full-service veterinary practice in beautiful Surrey, BC, looking for an Associate Veterinarian with a genuine passion for exotic animal medicine. This role offers the chance to deepen your expertise in avian, reptile, and small-mammal species while maintaining your general small animal practice—all with strong institutional support for learning and professional growth.

You'll work in a collaborative environment where mentorship, continuing education, and career development are priorities. Key Responsibilities

  • Provide medical and surgical care for exotic pets including birds, reptiles, rabbits, and small rodents
  • Maintain competency in general small animal surgery and medicine alongside exotic cases
  • Mentor and support veterinary students throughout their training
  • Participate in continuing education and professional development opportunities
  • Engage with colleagues through conferences and professional networking
  • Contribute to the practice's commitment to community initiatives through VCA Canada programs

Requirements

  • Valid veterinarian licence to practice in Canada
  • Confident, experienced general small animal surgeon and clinician
  • Essential experience working with exotic pets (rabbits, snakes, birds, reptiles, small rodents)
  • Certificate in exotics, or actively pursuing one, or willingness to start a certificate program
  • Passion for mentoring and coaching students on their DVM journey
  • Interest in attending conferences and networking with colleagues
