About the Role
Coastal Care Veterinary Emergency & Referral Hospital is Nova Scotia's premier emergency and specialty facility, and they're looking for a skilled, detail-oriented RVT to join their Internal Medicine department. You'll work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment where learning is continuous and patient care is paramount. This is a specialty role — not routine preventive work — which means you'll be trusted with complex patient assessments, advanced diagnostics, and critical procedures that make a real difference.

Key Responsibilities
- Assist with and perform advanced diagnostics including ultrasound, endoscopy, rhinoscopy, cystoscopy, CT imaging, fine-needle aspirates, and cytology
- Support chemotherapy and other specialized treatment procedures
- Conduct patient assessments, sedation, anesthesia preparation, and post-procedure monitoring
- Manage patient follow-up communications and maintain detailed Internal Medicine appointment records
- Answer client and referring veterinarian questions regarding patient cases and treatment plans
- Educate clients on medical conditions, disease processes, and treatment options
- Maintain professional, friendly demeanor while prioritizing patient health and client satisfaction
- Demonstrate proficiency with practice management software and maintain clear, accurate written communications with specialists, hospital staff, and clients
Requirements
- Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) designation
- Minimum 2 years of veterinary technician experience
- Current registration with EVTA/NSVMA
- Strong organizational and multi-tasking abilities; ability to plan and prioritize effectively
- Excellent communication skills and detail-oriented approach
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and willingness to learn practice software
- Team-focused mindset with a commitment to outstanding client service
- Ability to work calmly and respond quickly in a fast-paced environment
