Veterinary Assistant

About the Role

Don Valley Animal Hospital is looking for a compassionate Veterinary Assistant to join their close-knit team in North York. You'll be the bridge between the clinical team and our clients, educating pet owners about medications, home care, vaccination schedules, and preventative health — all under the guidance of veterinarians and RVTs. Your day-to-day work involves greeting and handling animals with care, assisting with laboratory procedures, and helping create an environment where pets feel genuinely safe and secure.

Key Responsibilities

• Counsel and educate clients on medication dosage and purpose, home care instructions, vaccination requirements, and preventative healthcare
• Assist RVTs and veterinarians with laboratory procedures and diagnostic testing
• Greet, handle, and care for animals in a calm, compassionate manner
• Support clinical and client care staff in a collaborative team environment
• Help maintain a safe, welcoming atmosphere for both animals and their owners

Requirements

• Legal eligibility to work in Canada
• Passion for animal care and client education
• Ability to work collaboratively with veterinarians, RVTs, and support staff
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
