Veterinary Assistant

About the Role

Wellington Veterinary Services is seeking a compassionate Veterinary Assistant to join their collaborative clinic in Elora. This is a temporary position covering a 6-month leave, perfect for someone looking for flexibility without long-term commitment.

You'll work alongside experienced RVTs and veterinary assistants in an environment where communication, respect, and clinical excellence are core values. The practice prioritizes work-life balance and team support, so you can expect a genuine collaborative setting rather than just clocking in.

Key Responsibilities

• Counsel and educate clients on animal care, including medication dosage and purpose, home care instructions, vaccination requirements, and preventative healthcare
• Suggest and explain laboratory procedures and testing in collaboration with the veterinary team
• Greet, handle, and treat animals with care, creating a safe and secure environment for patient comfort
• Assist veterinarians and RVTs during clinical procedures and patient care
• Support client communication and relationship-building throughout their veterinary visits

Requirements

• Veterinary Assistant certification or equivalent experience (preferred)
• Strong communication and client education skills
• Ability to handle and work compassionately with animals
• Team-oriented mindset with a commitment to clinical excellence
• Flexibility to work with full-time or part-time scheduling options
