About the Role

This is a practicum opportunity for DVM students seeking hands-on experience in a busy, progressive small animal practice. You'll shadow veterinarians during surgical and dental procedures, observe decision-making in complex cases, and learn how the team responds to emergencies. It's a chance to bridge the gap between classroom learning and the realities of clinical practice — and to confirm whether this career path is right for you.

Based in Paradise (just outside St. John's), the practice offers exposure to high standards of medical care in a supportive environment. You'll work alongside experienced DVMs and veterinary technicians who are invested in helping students develop both practical and professional skills.

Key Responsibilities

• Shadow veterinarians during surgical and dental procedures
• Observe and learn the decision-making process for complex cases
• Participate in emergency response and learn triage protocols
• Develop practical clinical skills under mentorship from DVMs and technicians
• Gain insight into post-graduation career options and specializations

Requirements

• Currently enrolled in a DVM program with a practicum requirement
• Legally eligible to work in Canada
