About the Role

Western Veterinary Specialist & Emergency Centre is seeking a board-certified internal medicine specialist to join their established specialty team in Calgary, AB. You'll be working part-time or on a locum basis alongside two experienced internal medicine specialists, supporting both existing referral clients and referring veterinarians. This is an opportunity to practise high-quality internal medicine in a well-equipped facility without the pressure of full-time commitment.

The hospital is a busy specialty and emergency centre with multiple collaborative services including imaging, cardiology, surgery, critical care, oncology, dermatology, and anaesthesia. The facility is equipped with CT scanning, rigid and flexible endoscopic equipment, surgical suites, in-house laboratory, digital radiography, ultrasound, and oxygen cages. You'll have the chance to mentor students along their DVM journey and build relationships with a supportive team and pet parents alike.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide specialist internal medicine consultation and care to referred cases
  • Work collaboratively with the existing internal medicine team and other specialists
  • Support referring veterinarians with complex diagnostic and medical cases
  • Participate in mentoring and coaching DVM students
  • Contribute to a team-based approach to patient care

Requirements

  • Valid veterinarian licence allowing practice in Canada
  • Board certification in internal medicine (or equivalent residency training)
  • Commitment to team-based medicine practices
  • Strong interpersonal skills with colleagues, pet parents, and the community
  • Passion for coaching and mentoring veterinary students
