About the Role
Kanata Animal Hospital is looking for a Registered Veterinary Technician who's ready to bring their A-game to a supportive, fast-paced environment. You'll work alongside highly skilled professionals in an established practice that genuinely invests in your development — whether that's mastering advanced techniques like anesthesia, CRIs, epidurals, and mechanical ventilators, or exploring specialized areas like hands-free radiology or the RVT 360 mobilization role.
This is a full-time position where you'll have the opportunity to grow your career over time, eventually managing your own client appointments in collaboration with VCA Canada veterinarians. You'll keep accurate patient records, solve problems on the fly, and build strong relationships with both colleagues and pet parents in a steady, often fast-paced setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform veterinary technical duties including anesthesia support, patient monitoring, and laboratory work
- Master advanced technical skills such as CRIs, epidurals, and mechanical ventilator management
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient records
- Support veterinarians during surgical and diagnostic procedures
- Provide compassionate care to patients and excellent communication with pet owners
- Work collaboratively with the veterinary team in a fast-paced environment
- Contribute to the practice's commitment to quality patient care and professional excellence
Requirements
- Current registration as a Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) in Ontario, or eligibility to register
- Willingness to develop and enhance technical skills in advanced areas (anesthesia, CRIs, epidurals, mechanical ventilators)
- Ability to thrive in a steady, fast-paced environment
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with colleagues and pet parents
- Strong problem-solving ability and attention to detail
