About the Role

Kingston Regional Pet Hospital is an after-hours emergency hospital seeking a part-time RVT to join a mentoring-focused team of DVMs and veterinary technicians. This is a fast-paced small animal emergency environment where the culture is collaborative, supportive, and genuinely light-hearted even during intense moments. You'll work a flexible mix of day and night shifts, giving you control over your schedule while gaining exposure to diverse emergency cases and procedures.

As an RVT, you'll be the clinical backbone supporting veterinarians through medical, surgical, and dental procedures. You'll prepare patients and instruments, operate diagnostic equipment, administer and monitor medications, and build genuine connections with clients and their pets. The team actively encourages you to step outside your comfort zone and develop new skills in a mentorship-driven environment where clinical excellence and communication are valued equally.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist veterinarians with medical, surgical, and dental procedures in an emergency setting
  • Prepare patients, instruments, and equipment for surgical procedures
  • Operate diagnostic equipment and perform relevant laboratory work
  • Administer and monitor medications under veterinary direction
  • Provide exceptional client care and communication during stressful situations
  • Manage multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced emergency environment
  • Support a culture of continuous learning and professional development

Requirements

  • Passed the VTNE or eligible to write the VTNE
  • In good standing with your provincial veterinary regulatory association (Ontario)
  • Successfully completed a 2- or 3-year accredited Canadian Veterinary or Animal Health Technology diploma program
  • Flexible schedule available for day and night shifts
  • Strong client communication skills and genuine compassion for animals and pet owners
  • Ability to multitask and thrive in a fast-paced environment
