Registered Veterinary Technician

About the Role

North Waterloo Veterinary Hospital is looking for an RVT who genuinely cares about animals and the people who love them. You'll work in a small companion animal practice where every team member makes a real difference—no being a cog in the machine here. Your days will include assisting veterinarians with medical, surgical, and dental procedures, using diagnostic equipment, preparing patients and instruments, and monitoring medications. You'll also build positive client relationships through respectful, compassionate interactions and exceptional customer service.

This is a full-time role in a close-knit practice that's been part of the Elmira community for over 30 years. You'll enjoy a varied caseload, clear communication with your team, and the flexibility to balance your career with life outside work. Elmira offers the best of small-town living—local cafés, farmers' markets, beautiful countryside—while being just 20 minutes from Kitchener-Waterloo if you want access to city amenities.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians with medical, surgical, and dental procedures
• Operate and maintain diagnostic equipment
• Prepare patients, instruments, and equipment for surgery
• Administer and monitor medications under veterinarian direction
• Provide exceptional customer service and build positive client relationships
• Demonstrate genuine care and compassion toward clients and their pets

Requirements

• Must have passed the VTNE or be eligible to write the VTNE
• In good standing with the provincial regulatory association
• Successfully completed a 2 or 3-year accredited Canadian Veterinary or Animal Health Technology Diploma Program
