About the Role

Toronto Veterinary Emergency Hospital (TVEH) is seeking a dedicated Registered Veterinary Technician to join the Surgery and Anesthesia team. This is a full-time role supporting a large, modern 24-hour emergency and referral facility in Scarborough. You'll work directly with surgeons on surgical procedures and anesthesia protocols—building expertise in critical patient care while maintaining the high standards expected in emergency medicine. The hospital combines the resources of a large network with genuine community mentorship and hands-on training opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work alongside surgeons on surgical appointments and procedures
  • Assist with and perform anesthesia induction, monitoring, and recovery for patients across multiple hospital services
  • Execute technical procedures including physical examinations, patient assessment, venipuncture, catheter placement, peripheral nerve blocks, epidurals, arterial catheters, and orthopedic radiography
  • Prepare and review patient records, flow sheets, and anesthetic protocols
  • Prepare medications, estimates, and manage billing documentation
  • Obtain and prepare laboratory samples
  • Provide direct patient management and ongoing care
  • Maintain accurate medical records and handle client communications
  • Deliver excellent customer service to pets and pet parents
  • Coordinate with other hospital departments as needed
  • Demonstrate flexibility and willingness to take on additional duties as required

Requirements

  • Registered Veterinary Technician/Technologist (RVT) credentials
  • Attention to detail and high level of accuracy in medical documentation
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Excellent communication and client service abilities
  • Ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment
