About the Role
The Mississauga-Oakville Emergency Hospital is building its surgical team and looking for a dedicated RVT ready to grow. You'll work alongside board-certified veterinary surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other specialists in a department that invests in your development. The role combines steady surgical workflow with the fast-paced energy of an emergency hospital. You'll handle everything from anesthesia monitoring and surgical prep to patient recovery and in-house lab work, working both as part of a tight-knit surgical team and independently when the situation calls for it. This full-time position includes some Saturday shifts.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform a range of clinical procedures: venipuncture, catheter placement, radiology, in-house lab work, and patient assessment
- Monitor anesthesia during surgical procedures and manage patient recovery
- Prepare patients for surgery and assist surgeons during procedures
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient records and files
- Develop advanced technical skills including CRI delivery and advanced anesthesia techniques
- Work collaboratively with surgical team members, ACAs, and veterinary specialists
- Provide excellent customer service, helping pets and their owners feel at ease
- Problem-solve in a dynamic, sometimes high-pressure environment
Requirements
- Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) credential or eligible to register
- Confident team player who can work independently when needed
- Strong organizational skills with ability to maintain accurate patient records
- Willingness to continuously expand technical knowledge and expertise
- Ability to thrive in a steady, fast-paced environment
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
- Positive attitude and strong problem-solving ability
- Previous veterinary hospital experience is an asset but not required
