About the Role

Allandale Veterinary Hospital, part of the multi-location Maple City Veterinary Professional Corporation network across Ontario, is looking for an experienced veterinarian to deliver comprehensive small animal care to its Barrie community. This is a permanent full-time position with a comfortable 35-hour work week—giving you predictable scheduling and time to enjoy what Barrie has to offer, from recreational activities to its vibrant downtown core and proximity to lakes and outdoor spaces.

You'll be at the heart of client care, building strong relationships with pet owners while performing physical examinations, diagnostics, medical and surgical procedures, and dental work. The role emphasizes delivering the highest quality medicine while keeping patients calm and comfortable. You'll also play an important part in developing and supporting the veterinary technician team, ensuring consistent excellence in both clinical care and client service.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive physical examinations and gather detailed patient histories from clients
• Conduct diagnostic, medical, surgical, and dental procedures with a focus on quality care and minimal patient stress
• Communicate clearly with clients about diagnoses, treatment plans, preventive health care, and nutritional needs
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical and surgical records according to established protocols
• Administer vaccinations and disease prevention treatments
• Stay informed about advances in veterinary medicine and best practices
• Mentor and support the paraprofessional team to maintain high standards of care and service

Requirements

• Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or equivalent four-to-five-year university degree in veterinary medicine
• Minimum 5 years of professional veterinary experience
• Current licensure in good standing or eligibility for licensure in Ontario
• Commitment to practising the highest standard of medicine and upholding veterinary code of ethics
• Collaborative approach with team members and confident decision-making
• Professional and courteous manner with staff and clients
• Fluent English (spoken and written)
