Veterinary Technician Practicum
Ready to bridge the gap between classroom and clinic? NVA Canada's VT Practicum Program gives final-year students hands-on experience in a supportive, dynamic environment—with travel support to help you focus on learning.
About the Role
This is your chance to turn classroom theory into real clinical practice. NVA Canada's VT Practicum Program is designed specifically for final-year veterinary technician students looking to gain meaningful, supervised experience before entering the profession. You'll work alongside experienced veterinarians and RVTs at Thornbury Veterinary Hospital, developing your skills across patient care, laboratory procedures, anesthesia, surgical assistance, and radiology.
Practicums are flexible—ranging from two to eight weeks—so you can choose a timeline that fits your schedule and career goals. Beyond technical skills, you'll build communication and teamwork abilities that prepare you for success as an RVT. Eligible students enrolled in accredited Canadian VT programs can receive a stipend to cover travel expenses, removing financial barriers so you can fully focus on learning.
