Work Schedule

Part-time casual position, typically up to 10 hours per week. Schedule flexibility required, including some evenings and weekends. Additional hours available for vacation coverage.

About the Role

Juno Veterinary is building something intentional in Burlington—a practice built on the belief that veterinary professionals deserve to thrive alongside their patients. This part-time casual role (typically up to 10 hours per week, with additional hours available for vacation coverage) is your chance to be part of that mission while maintaining flexibility in your schedule.

You'll work primarily with your own patient roster—appointments, procedures, lab interpretation, medication prescribing, and follow-ups. When the primary veterinarian isn't in clinic, you'll support their continuity of care. Beyond the clinical work, you'll help shape clinic culture by coaching less experienced team members, actively participating in quality-improvement meetings, and building strong relationships with both clients and staff. Schedule flexibility is essential, including occasional evening and weekend availability.

This is small animal medicine at its best: you'll use your full skillset in medicine, surgery, and dentistry while working alongside a collaborative team that practices gold-standard care. The Juno Standard of Care isn't just a slogan—it's how they work every day, with genuine compassion for pets, clear communication with clients, and mutual support among the team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and treat infectious, inflammatory, metabolic, degenerative, and environmental diseases with medical competence
  • Triage and stabilize urgent/emergent cases, with appropriate referrals
  • Perform routine and advanced surgical procedures (spays, neuters, mass removals, cystotomy, laceration repair, eyelid surgery, enucleation, gastropexy)
  • Provide comprehensive dental care—charting, radiograph interpretation, gingival flaps, extractions, and proper closure
  • Manage your own appointment schedule, walk-ins, and urgent cases while maintaining timely charting
  • Build positive client relationships through proactive care planning and clear communication
  • Coach and mentor support staff and less experienced veterinarians
  • Participate actively in team meetings to improve medical quality and clinic operations
  • Support non-doctor tasks when needed and able—this is a truly collaborative environment
  • Help develop Juno initiatives and expand service offerings through continuing education
  • Seek to understand basic business metrics and benchmarks

Requirements

  • Valid DVM license and legal eligibility to practice in Ontario
  • Minimum 2 years of clinic experience
  • Proficiency in wellness, medicine, surgery, and dentistry
  • Strong surgical skills including feline and canine spay/neuter, cryptorchid neuter, hernia repair, mass removal, cystotomy, laceration repair, eyelid surgery, and enucleation
  • Dental competence: charting, radiograph interpretation, gingival flaps, extractions, and site closure
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities (appointments, walk-ins, urgent cases) and self-motivate during slower periods
  • Excellent communication skills—with team members, clients, and leadership
  • Genuine comfort with feedback (both giving and receiving) and a mindset committed to continuous growth
  • Ability to thrive in a collaborative, team-oriented environment
  • Adaptability and flexibility—schedule, processes, and clinic operations will evolve as Juno grows
  • POCUS and abdominal ultrasound experience is a plus

Benefits

  • Competitive salary/hourly compensation: $125,000–$170,000 per year (pro-rated based on hours worked)
  • Bonus component with opportunity for additional earnings
  • Part-time casual flexibility with potential for increased hours during vacation coverage periods
  • Mentorship and coaching from experienced veterinarians within a supportive, collaborative team
  • Professional growth opportunities through continuing education and skill development
  • Leadership development—opportunity to expand your professional presence and hone leadership skills
  • Business acumen building—you'll gain insight into clinic operations, metrics, and benchmarks
  • Culture of continuous feedback and open communication
