About the Role

Guardian Veterinary Centre, a well-established specialty hospital in Edmonton, is expanding its surgical services and seeking a Board-Certified Surgeon to join their growing team. Since 2007, they've built strong relationships throughout Northern Alberta, Northern British Columbia, Yukon, the Northwest Territories, and Nunavut—and now they're ready to add a second surgeon to meet rising demand for advanced surgical care.

You'll deliver exceptional patient care while actively mentoring interns, residents, and support staff in a collaborative learning environment. Beyond the operating room, you'll play an important role educating the referral network about innovative surgical procedures, treatment options, and advances in veterinary surgery.

The practice offers full-time employment with schedule flexibility tailored to your goals and availability. Their state-of-the-art 20,000-square-foot facility includes 24-hour staffing, updated CT, ultrasound, fluoroscopy, endoscopy, and arthroscopy—with planned expansion adding 10,000 square feet, an MRI, dedicated ICU, and additional procedure rooms this year.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform advanced surgical procedures and provide exceptional patient care maintaining high clinical standards
• Partner with pet parents, clearly explaining surgical procedures, expected outcomes, and providing compassionate care throughout treatment
• Mentor interns, residents, and support staff, fostering a collaborative learning environment
• Support and educate the referral community throughout the year on surgical innovations and best practices
• Contribute to the hospital's expanding surgical services across a broad geographic region

Requirements

• Successful completion of a veterinary surgery residency program with board certification or eligibility to sit for the certification examination
• Strong client communication skills with commitment to partnering with pet parents
• Commitment to delivering exceptional patient care and maintaining high clinical standards
• Passion for mentoring interns, residents, and support staff in a collaborative learning environment
