Join a collaborative Burlington practice where clinical excellence, mentorship, and genuine work-life balance aren't just promises—they're built into the culture. Askey Animal Hospital welcomes an experienced veterinarian ready to thrive.
Work Schedule
Schedule includes weekdays, evenings, and Saturdays. These are regular scheduled shifts, not on-call standby duty.
About the Role
Askey Animal Hospital is looking for a fully licensed Veterinarian to join its team in Burlington, Ontario. This is an opportunity to build strong relationships with pet owners while delivering high-quality veterinary medicine in a supportive, team-oriented environment. The practice is genuinely committed to your ongoing professional development, offering in-house resources and plenty of room to expand your clinical expertise.
You'll work a flexible schedule that includes weekdays, evenings, and Saturdays—with the team's genuine support for work-life balance. This is an existing position with a fixed-term, full-time structure (30 hours weekly), giving you predictability and the chance to focus on what matters most: great patient care and your own wellbeing.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver wellness and preventive care, including vaccinations, parasite prevention, nutrition counseling, laboratory screening, and comprehensive wellness planning.
- Maintain a full schedule of approximately 10 mixed appointments per shift while staying flexible for walk-in patients.
- Provide routine dental care—examinations, cleanings, and radiographs—and identify opportunities for preventive or follow-up treatment.
- Support senior pets by monitoring health, managing chronic conditions, and maintaining quality of life through preventive care.
- Build trusted relationships with pet owners through clear communication and compassionate, heart-centred medicine.
- Perform routine surgical procedures including spay/neuter, laceration repair, and umbilical hernia repair.
- Maintain accurate medical records and follow best practices in patient care and hospital protocols.
- Collaborate within a team-based environment, recognizing that every role contributes to exceptional client and patient care.
Requirements
- DVM degree and full provincial licensing (or eligibility to practice) in Canada.
- Minimum one year of post-graduation clinical experience.
- Flexibility to support patients and clients across a mix of weekdays, evenings, and Saturdays.
- Confidence in routine elective surgeries and common medical cases.
- Comfort with veterinary dentistry, from routine cleanings and radiographs to advanced procedures and extractions (or genuine openness to further training).
- A heart-centred approach to medicine, with compassion at the centre of everything you do.
- A mentorship mindset and genuine eagerness to guide and inspire veterinary students on the team.
Benefits
- Competitive compensation reflecting your skills and experience: $100,000–$150,000 annually, depending on experience and abilities.
- RRSP Employer Group Match Program (5%) to support your long-term financial planning.
- Paid time off for continuing education, vacation, sick days, and personal wellness days.
- Annual Continuing Education allowance to support your professional development.
- Extended health benefits (eligibility at minimum 24 hours per week, with flexible options).
- Paid annual certification memberships and uniform allowance.
- Mental health and wellness support: Virtual health care (telemedicine), Employee Assistance Program (EAP), and digital wellness tools for mindfulness, sleep, and fitness.
- Career development pathways within a growing organization.
- Generous personal pet care discounts and lifestyle perks, including exclusive shopping discounts and wellness app access.
- Medical Library Access: 2,000+ journals, 600+ textbooks, research, and more at your fingertips.
- VCA Academy Mentorship Program for new graduates.
