About the Role
Royal Vet's South West Montreal location is looking for a veterinary assistant with at least 5 years of hands-on experience to join their dynamic team. You'll work in a fast-paced clinic environment where your clinical skills and client-focused approach are genuinely valued. This is a full-time permanent position offering day, evening, and weekend shifts with overtime available — giving you predictable scheduling alongside the flexibility modern practices need.
As part of a supportive team, you'll take on a broad range of responsibilities that showcase your versatility and expertise in animal care. From surgical assistance to client education, you'll have the opportunity to make a real difference in animal health outcomes every day.
Key Responsibilities
- Collect samples and perform laboratory tests
- Handle, restrain, and provide care for animals undergoing treatment and surgery
- Assist veterinarians before, during, and after surgical procedures
- Prepare and administer medications and vaccines under veterinarian direction
- Administer treatments as prescribed by the veterinarian
- Provide nursing care and rehabilitation therapy for animals
- Perform routine dental procedures and assist with animal dentistry
- Provide wound and bandage care
- Counsel clients on animal health care and preventative practices
- Conduct and assist in laboratory research
- Perform office management and clerical duties as needed
Requirements
- College/CEGEP diploma in veterinary/animal health technology, technician training, or veterinary assistant certification
- Minimum 5 years of professional experience in veterinary or animal health care settings
- Strong clinical skills in animal handling and restraint
- Excellent verbal and written communication in English or French
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Team player mentality with strong interpersonal skills
- Organized, detail-oriented, and able to exercise good judgment
- Client-focused approach to animal and owner care
- Criminal record check required
- Authorization to work in Canada
