About the Role

This externship at Eagleview Veterinary Hospital offers veterinary students a chance to step into the real world of general practice. You'll work alongside experienced Associate Veterinarians, learning what it takes to run a supportive, high-quality animal hospital. Whether you're early in your clinical training or nearing graduation, this is an opportunity to see the day-to-day operations of a thriving practice and build confidence in core clinical skills.

Based in Squamish, BC—a vibrant community nestled between mountains and ocean—you'll balance meaningful learning with access to hiking, skiing, water sports, and excellent local dining. Externships typically run 2–8 weeks depending on your schedule and the hospital's needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Gather patient histories and perform physical examinations under supervision
  • Develop and discuss treatment plans with the clinical team
  • Assist with diagnostic procedures and dentistry services
  • Observe and assist with surgical procedures; perform procedures as appropriate to your level
  • Manage medical care and follow-up for assigned patients
  • Practice communication and teamwork with veterinarians, support staff, and clients

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in an accredited veterinary medicine program (any class year welcome)
  • Enrolled in or completed the clinical portion of your veterinary education
  • Willingness to learn and work collaboratively in a supportive environment
