About the Role

This is an unpaid practicum opportunity for DVM students who need clinical placement hours as part of their university program. You'll shadow our veterinary team through the full spectrum of small animal medicine — from routine exams and dental procedures to surgical cases and emergency response. This hands-on experience gives you a genuine window into professional decision-making, complex case management, and what life looks like as a practicing veterinarian.

Based in Paradise (just outside St. John's), the Paradise Animal Hospital & Wellness Centre is a busy, progressive small animal practice. You'll work alongside our DVM and technician team, developing practical skills and real-world insights that bridge the gap between textbook learning and the clinic floor. This is your chance to test your career path, build professional networks, and see if this practice culture is where you want to launch your career post-graduation.

Key Responsibilities

• Shadow veterinarians during surgical and dental procedures
• Observe clinical decision-making processes and case management
• Assist with complex case management and emergency response
• Learn high standards of medical expertise and best practices
• Develop professional and practical skills working with the DVM and technician team

Requirements

• Currently enrolled in a DVM program with practicum placement requirement
• Legal eligibility to work in Canada

Paradise Animal Hospital & Wellness Centre is a progressive small animal practice serving the Paradise and St. John's area of Newfoundland and Labrador.
