Practice Manager
Ready to lead a team that actually cares? Juno Veterinary is building the next generation of animal care in Toronto, and we're looking for Practice Managers who are passionate about people and prepared to make a real impact.
Work Schedule
Role may require evening and weekend work as part of management duties, but this is scheduled work, not on-call standby.
About the Role
This is an expression of interest for anticipated future Practice Manager opportunities with Juno Veterinary in Toronto—not an application for an existing vacancy. If you're excited about the possibility of joining a founder-owned, proudly Canadian veterinary organization that's expanding in the Greater Toronto Area, this is your chance to connect about what's coming next.
Reporting to the Clinic Operations Lead, you'll be responsible for building and leading high-performing clinic teams across all operational functions. You'll work closely with the in-clinic Medical Director to ensure seamless collaboration, manage scheduling and team deployment to optimize clinic efficiency, and create an environment where your team feels supported and genuinely loves their work. This is hands-on leadership—you'll roll up your sleeves, coach your team, handle tough conversations, and represent their voice in leadership discussions.
You'll own the appointment schedule and labor planning, recruit and onboard top talent, identify development opportunities for each team member, manage conflict with grace, and champion the Juno Way every day. The role includes occasional evening and weekend work, managing direct reports, and working with team leads supporting members who may be experiencing emotional distress or frustration.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead a diverse team of veterinarians, technicians, and support staff—from recruitment through onboarding, development, and performance management
- Own the appointment schedule and strategic planning to maximize productivity and ensure seamless daily flow
- Build effective teams by identifying skill gaps, recruiting top talent, and creating an appropriate mix of skills and perspectives
- Provide regular feedback and support ongoing growth and skill development for team members
- Represent your team's voice and perspective during leadership discussions to ensure they feel heard
- Create and manage DVM schedules based on labor operating plans, appointment flow, and clinic utilization targets
- Manage relief coverage and resolve scheduling gaps due to staffing or skill development needs
- Collaborate with the clinic team to establish regular communication cadences and create opportunities for in-clinic leads to connect with peers
- Address member escalations personally or route to appropriate parties for prompt resolution
- Lead implementation of Juno Brand Tenets to maximize team engagement and foster a culture of mutual support
- Approve and monitor timesheets for payroll
- Manage conflict resolution among team members and members, collaborating with People Operations as needed
- Ensure inventory, supplies, and resources are optimized so the team can function at full capacity
- Lead and participate in team wellness activities and initiatives that support mental health and well-being
- Provide frequent, productive feedback on innovative technology and platform evaluation
- Foster a culture of continuous learning, improvement, and excellence
Requirements
- 3+ years of leadership role experience with a demonstrated passion for people leadership
- Previous veterinary experience strongly preferred
- Exceptional communication skills—both verbal and written
- Managerial courage and willingness to do the hard things first when supporting what's best for the team
- Ability to create a sense of belonging and strong team morale
- Skill in establishing open dialogue, feedback, and collaboration
- Ability to build trust, integrity, and authenticity in your relationships
- Experience managing labor plans and budgets with strong problem-solving ability
- Collaborative, go-getter attitude—willing to be hands-on and roll up your sleeves
- High emotional intelligence, adaptability, and flexibility to meet team, member, and business needs
Benefits
- Full benefits package including access to mental health support
- Continuing education and professional development opportunities
- Mentorship programs
- Generous PTO
- Discounted Juno Veterinary services for your own pets
- Collaborative team environment with genuine support
- Salary range: $75,000–$100,000 per year, plus bonus component for additional earnings
- Opportunity for compensation above range based on experience and impact
