Join a Calgary team that actually walks the talk on work-life balance. Chaparral Veterinary Clinic blends clinical excellence with flexibility—and they mean it.

About the Role

Chaparral Veterinary Clinic is looking for a Veterinarian with 3–7 years of experience to join their collaborative Calgary team. You'll work alongside experienced RVTs, Veterinary Assistants, and reception staff who genuinely value communication and clinical excellence. The practice is built on a supportive, collegial culture where your medical expertise—whether in complex cases, surgery, or dentistry—gets noticed and mentored.

This is a full-time position with genuine flexibility. Whether you want to work traditional hours or negotiate a part-time arrangement, the team works with you to create a schedule that respects your life outside the clinic. You'll have the autonomy to make independent decisions and lead cases, backed by a community of DVMs and a robust mentorship program through VetCare's network.

Located in Calgary, AB, you'll find yourself in a vibrant city with year-round outdoor recreation—skiing and mountain activities in the nearby Rockies, a thriving downtown food and brewery scene, and plenty of cultural attractions to balance your professional life.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver primary clinical care across medicine and surgery, managing cases independently and collaboratively
  • Perform surgical and dental procedures to a high standard of medical expertise
  • Handle emergency cases with confidence and clinical acuity
  • Contribute to team leadership and mentorship of RVTs and support staff
  • Engage in continuing education to maintain and expand clinical skills

Requirements

  • 3–7 years of veterinary experience
  • Hold or be eligible to hold a full General Veterinary License in Alberta at time of application
  • Proficiency in surgical and dental procedures
  • Ability to manage complex cases and respond confidently to emergencies
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills

Benefits

  • Guaranteed base salary plus production (without negative accrual)
  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance (single or family coverage)
  • Life insurance
  • Long-term disability (employee contribution)
  • Paid veterinary licensing dues and provincial membership fees
  • Professional liability and malpractice insurance coverage
  • Professional development allowance
  • VIN membership
  • Veterinary AI scribe membership (Fydo DX)
  • Uniform allowance
  • Vacation and paid time off
  • Flexible schedule options
  • 24/7 employee assistance program (mental health, financial, nutritional, and relationship support)
  • Access to VetCare's veterinary learning platform
  • Free or discounted continuing education hosted on-site
  • Voluntary RRSP and TFSA contribution plan
  • Generous referral program
  • Employee recognition programs
  • Annual performance reviews
  • Employee pet discounts
  • Paid pet bereavement day
  • Paid sick days
