Veterinary Assistant

About the Role

Eagle Hill Animal Hospital is seeking a Veterinary Assistant to join their welcoming multi-doctor practice. You'll be the bridge between the clinical team and pet owners—counselling and educating clients on medication dosage and purpose, home care routines, vaccination requirements, and preventative health strategies. Working alongside RVTs and veterinarians, you'll help explain laboratory procedures and testing options, always keeping the patient experience calm and secure.

This is a part-time position with weekend coverage required. You'll be working Saturdays and Sundays, supporting a practice that genuinely values work-life balance and creates a culture where staff actually enjoy coming to work. The team is known for laughing together, spending quality time with patients, and keeping their resident clinic cat Gordon thoroughly entertained.

Key Responsibilities

• Counsel and educate clients on medication dosage, purpose, and administration under direction of a Veterinarian or RVT
• Advise clients on home care, vaccination requirements, and preventative healthcare recommendations
• Assist in suggesting and explaining laboratory procedures and diagnostic testing
• Greet, handle, and treat animals with care to ensure they feel safe and secure
• Support weekend operations with consistent Saturday and Sunday availability
• Work collaboratively with the broader clinic team to deliver compassionate patient care and excellent client service

Requirements

• Veterinary Assistant experience required
• Ability to work Saturdays and Sundays consistently
• Strong communication and client education skills
• Compassionate approach to animal handling and care
