About the Role

Blue Sky Animal Hospital is looking for an experienced Veterinarian to join their dedicated team in North Bay. This is a full-time opportunity (4–5 days per week), offering the flexibility to tailor your schedule around your life outside the clinic. You'll work alongside 3 RVTs and support staff in delivering high-quality, compassionate small animal medicine to a community that's thrived on the practice's care for over two decades.

North Bay sits on the shores of Lake Nipissing—the Gateway to the North—where small-town warmth blends seamlessly with genuine adventure. Picture your weekends: hiking and skiing in nearby wilderness, snowmobiling across pristine trails, or simply relaxing by the lake. The city pulses with cultural energy too: acclaimed restaurants, live music and food festivals, the Capitol Centre performing arts, and an OHL team that brings the community together. You're also just a few hours from the GTA when you want access to a larger urban centre. This role offers you the chance to practise excellent medicine while actually enjoying your life.

The hospital values high-quality medicine, mutual respect, and genuine collaboration. You'll be joining a fun-loving, compassionate team that's genuinely excited about growing together—not just surviving shift-to-shift.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver primary clinical care for small animal patients, working with the hospital's RVT team
  • Perform surgical and dental procedures with confidence and proficiency
  • Manage complex cases and respond to emergencies with sound clinical judgment
  • Make independent medical decisions and provide clinical leadership to the team
  • Contribute to a culture of communication, respect, and clinical excellence

Requirements

  • 3–7 years of veterinary experience
  • Demonstrated proficiency in surgical and dental procedures
  • Hold or be eligible to hold a full General Veterinary Licence in Ontario at time of application
  • Strong medical expertise and ability to manage complex cases independently
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills

Benefits

  • Guaranteed base salary plus production incentive (no negative accrual)
  • Signing and relocation bonuses (if applicable)
  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance (single or family coverage)
  • Life insurance
  • Long-term disability insurance (employee contribution)
  • Professional liability and malpractice insurance paid by hospital
  • Paid veterinary licensing dues and provincial membership fees
  • Professional development allowance for continuing education
  • VIN (Veterinary Information Network) membership
  • Veterinary AI scribe membership (Fydo DX)
  • Vacation and paid time off
  • Flexible scheduling to suit your lifestyle
  • Uniform allowance
  • 24/7 Employee Assistance Program covering mental health, relationships, finances, and nutrition
  • Access to veterinary learning platform and free/discounted on-site CE
  • Community-wide networking and knowledge exchange with other DVMs
  • Voluntary RRSP/TFSA contribution plan
  • Generous employee referral program
  • Employee recognition programs
  • Annual performance review
  • Employee pet discounts
  • Paid pet bereavement day
  • Paid sick days
