About the Role

Kingston Regional Pet Hospital is an after-hours emergency hospital seeking an experienced Veterinarian to join their tight-knit, mentoring-focused team. You'll work in a fast-paced small animal emergency environment where clinical excellence meets genuine camaraderie—think light-hearted moments between the serious cases, not burnout culture.

The hospital operates overnight Monday–Wednesday evenings and 24 hours Thursday evening through Monday morning, plus all holidays. You'll be primarily responsible for clinical care and emergency response, drawing on medical knowledge, teamwork, and emotional intelligence to deliver exceptional medicine and support the broader team during high-pressure moments.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver primary clinical care in emergency small animal medicine, including diagnosis, treatment planning, and case management
• Perform and oversee surgical and dental procedures with confidence and proficiency
• Make independent clinical decisions and manage complex emergency cases
• Respond to emergencies with quick thinking and strong communication with clients and team members
• Collaborate with RVTs, Veterinary Assistants, and reception staff to ensure smooth operations and excellent patient outcomes
• Contribute to a mentoring culture by sharing knowledge and supporting team development

Requirements

• Full General Veterinary License in Ontario, or eligibility to obtain one at the time of application
• 3–7 years of veterinary experience
• High standard of medical expertise, particularly in surgical and dental procedures
• Confidence in independent decision-making and emergency case management
• Strong client communication and emotional intelligence
• Willingness to learn, adapt quickly, and work in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to multitask and maintain composure under pressure
