About the Role

Royal Vet's South West Montreal location is looking for a veterinary assistant with at least 5 years of hands-on experience to join their dynamic team. You'll work in a fast-paced clinic environment where your clinical skills and client-focused approach are genuinely valued. This is a full-time permanent position offering day, evening, and weekend shifts with overtime available — giving you predictable scheduling alongside the flexibility modern practices need.

As part of a supportive team, you'll take on a broad range of responsibilities that showcase your versatility and expertise in animal care. From surgical assistance to client education, you'll have the opportunity to make a real difference in animal health outcomes every day.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collect samples and perform laboratory tests
  • Handle, restrain, and provide care for animals undergoing treatment and surgery
  • Assist veterinarians before, during, and after surgical procedures
  • Prepare and administer medications and vaccines under veterinarian direction
  • Administer treatments as prescribed by the veterinarian
  • Provide nursing care and rehabilitation therapy for animals
  • Perform routine dental procedures and assist with animal dentistry
  • Provide wound and bandage care
  • Counsel clients on animal health care and preventative practices
  • Conduct and assist in laboratory research
  • Perform office management and clerical duties as needed

Requirements

  • College/CEGEP diploma in veterinary/animal health technology, technician training, or veterinary assistant certification
  • Minimum 5 years of professional experience in veterinary or animal health care settings
  • Strong clinical skills in animal handling and restraint
  • Excellent verbal and written communication in English or French
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
  • Team player mentality with strong interpersonal skills
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and able to exercise good judgment
  • Client-focused approach to animal and owner care
  • Criminal record check required
  • Authorization to work in Canada
