About the Role
Lakeshore Animal Hospital is looking for a full-time Registered Veterinary Technician to join their tight-knit team. You'll handle the full spectrum of vet tech responsibilities: surgical prep and assistance, patient recovery, anesthesia monitoring, radiology, venipuncture, catheter placement, and detailed patient record-keeping. The role demands someone who can juggle multiple priorities, think critically to problem-solve, and bring genuine compassion to both hospitalized patients and their owners. Key Responsibilities
- Prepare patients for surgery, assist during procedures, and manage recovery
- Monitor anesthesia and maintain detailed, accurate patient records
- Perform venipuncture, catheter placement, and radiology work
- Manage pharmacy duties and maintain organized patient information
- Provide compassionate care for hospitalized patients and support pet owners
- Balance multiple priorities and problem-solve independently or by seeking clarification when needed
- Collaborate effectively with colleagues and deliver exceptional interpersonal care
Requirements
- Completion of a Veterinary Technician or Animal Health Technician program with eligibility to register as an RVT
- Knowledge of physical examinations, patient assessment, catheter placement, anesthesia monitoring, radiology, venipuncture, and pharmacy (new graduates welcome—VCA values growing talent from day one)
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with colleagues and pet owners
