About the Role
Allandale Veterinary Hospital is inviting an Associate Veterinarian to join a thriving, AAHA-certified Feline-friendly practice in Barrie, Ontario. If you're a new graduate or early career DVM seeking mentorship and the freedom to develop your interests, this is your launchpad. You'll work on a 4-day week average with consistent scheduling that actually respects your time off—allowing you to thrive both in the hospital and beyond.
Each shift includes a dedicated exam room assistant who handles administrative tasks, freeing you to focus on what matters: exceptional patient care and meaningful client conversations. Beyond routine small animal medicine, you'll have the opportunity to explore special interests in reproduction (progesterone monitoring, transcervical insemination, c-sections), rehabilitation, acupuncture, and traditional Chinese medicine—with full institutional support.

Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive small animal veterinary care across 8 exam rooms and specialized procedure spaces
- Develop clinical skills in reproduction, rehabilitation, and acupuncture/traditional Chinese medicine alongside mentorship from senior veterinarians
- Collaborate with a Fear Free certified team to deliver high-standard patient and client experiences
- Participate in the practice's philanthropic mission, including fundraising and international veterinary outreach (Guatemala, Jamaica, Honduras, Northern Ontario)
- Work with modern diagnostic and surgical equipment: IDEXX lab, dual ultrasound machines, digital and dental x-ray, orthopedic capabilities, and underwater treadmill
Requirements
- Valid DVM or veterinary degree recognized in Canada
- Open to new graduates and early-career veterinarians with mentorship mindset
- Interest in small animal medicine and willingness to explore special interests (reproduction, rehabilitation, acupuncture)
- Alignment with Fear Free and low-stress handling philosophies
