Board-Certified Veterinary Criticalist
Help shape critical care standards across Atlantic Canada. Join a brand-new specialty hospital with cutting-edge facilities, an established criticalist mentor, and a collaborative team ready to build something exceptional.
Work Schedule
Fair and supported weekend rotation (scheduled shifts, not standby on-call).
About the Role
A rare opportunity to join a freshly built, purpose-designed specialty and emergency hospital in Halifax—one that's already making waves as a referral destination across Atlantic Canada. You won't be starting from scratch; you'll be working alongside an established criticalist who's laid strong groundwork, letting you focus on growing the critical care service alongside a genuinely collaborative specialist team including internal medicine, surgery, radiology, dermatology, ophthalmology, and anesthesia.
This isn't just another emergency shift. You'll have dedicated ER support, participate in a fair weekend rotation (shared responsibility, not burnout), and contribute to teaching relationships with Atlantic Veterinary College. Additional specialty services are launching in 2026, and the hospital maintains a partnership with the Canadian Animal Blood Bank—meaning your work influences referral standards and shapes the future of critical care in the region.
Halifax itself offers a genuine lifestyle advantage: coastal access to beaches and trails, a vibrant food and music scene, and—increasingly rare among Canadian major cities—home ownership that's still within reach. You get world-class medicine without sacrificing affordability or quality of life.
