About the Role

Port Hope Veterinary Hospital is seeking an experienced Managing Veterinarian to oversee clinical operations, mentor associate veterinarians, and drive medical and operational excellence. This leadership position combines hands-on clinical work with strategic oversight of a well-established, community-focused practice serving Port Hope and surrounding areas. Located just a short drive from Toronto, the role offers the chance to grow professionally while building a high-performing team in a collaborative, supportive culture.

Key Responsibilities

  • Cultivate a positive, high-trust work environment through servant leadership, open communication, and strong relationships between staff, clients, and veterinarians
  • Mentor and coach associate veterinarians through one-on-one meetings, performance feedback, and collaborative DVM meetings focused on medical protocols and client service
  • Oversee medical standards, standard operating procedures, and quality of care in alignment with organizational standards
  • Collaborate with the Hospital Manager on hiring, performance management, resource allocation, and continuing education approvals
  • Develop and implement growth initiatives, marketing strategies, and community engagement programs
  • Monitor hospital performance, client compliance, and operational metrics to ensure alignment with organizational goals
  • Uphold veterinary ethics, standards of care, and professional conduct across the team

Requirements

  • Licensed DVM in Ontario
  • Demonstrated leadership, mentorship, and operational experience
  • Commitment to high standards of medicine, ethics, and client care
  • Proven ability to foster a positive, collaborative, and high-performing workplace
