About the Role
Heritage Animal Hospital is looking for an RVT to join their team in Midland, one of Ontario's premier recreational destinations along Georgian Bay. Whether you're a new graduate preparing for your VTNE or an experienced technician, this is a practice that genuinely invests in growing its team. You'll work alongside experienced professionals who bring both technical knowledge and real compassion to patient care—and that culture carries through to how they treat their staff.
This is a full-time or part-time role with scheduling flexibility, so you can build a work arrangement that fits your life. You'll handle the full scope of RVT duties: surgical prep and recovery, anesthesia monitoring, patient assessment, radiology, venipuncture, catheter placement, and detailed record-keeping. But beyond the technical work, you'll be part of a team that prioritizes the wellbeing of both pets and the people who love them.
Key Responsibilities
- Surgical preparation, assistance, and patient recovery support
- Anesthesia monitoring and patient safety during procedures
- Physical examinations, patient assessment, and catheter placement
- Radiology, venipuncture, and pharmacy duties
- Maintain detailed and accurate patient records
- Provide compassionate care to hospitalized patients and support their owners
- Manage multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail
- Work collaboratively with veterinarians and team members to problem-solve and deliver excellent care
Requirements
- Completion of a Veterinary Technician program (or currently preparing to write your VTNE—the practice can help)
- Knowledge of physical examinations, patient assessment, catheter placement, anesthesia monitoring, radiology, venipuncture, and pharmacy fundamentals
- Ability to maintain detailed and accurate patient records
- Strong interpersonal skills with colleagues and pet owners
- Ability to juggle multiple priorities and think through problems effectively
- Genuine passion for companion animal care and a commitment to continuing to learn
