About the Role

Edwards Veterinary Services is a privately owned animal hospital that has been caring for pets in the Tillsonburg area for 35 years. This is your chance to join an established practice with a solid reputation, where you'll deliver high-quality medicine while building genuine relationships with clients and their pets. You'll work across a broad spectrum of small animal cases, including dogs, cats, small mammals, exotics, and avians—so no two days look quite the same.

As a fully licenced veterinarian, you'll take the lead on examinations, diagnostics, and treatment plans tailored to each patient's unique needs. You'll perform soft tissue surgeries with precision, provide dental care and preventative medicine, and offer nutritional counselling when it counts. You'll also participate in the hospital's emergency services on a rotating basis. Beyond clinical work, you'll have opportunities to mentor veterinary students and interns, keeping your own skills sharp through continuing education and professional development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive examinations and diagnose illnesses in dogs, cats, small mammals, exotics, and avian patients
  • Develop and implement individualised treatment plans, including surgical procedures, dental care, preventative medicine, and nutritional guidance
  • Perform soft tissue surgeries with precision and expertise
  • Carry out exam and diagnostic procedures on exotic animals
  • Collaborate with support staff to ensure seamless patient care and effective client communication
  • Participate in emergency services on a rotating basis as part of the hospital's on-call roster
  • Mentor and guide veterinary students and interns in their professional development
  • Maintain accurate medical records and uphold high standards of patient care and ethical practices
  • Stay current on veterinary best practices through participation in conferences and professional workshops

Requirements

  • Valid Canadian veterinary licence with full Ontario registration (not restricted or foreign credentials)
  • Minimum 1 year of experience as a fully licenced veterinarian in Canada
  • Canadian citizen or permanent resident
  • Proficiency in soft tissue surgeries, dentistry, preventative care, and nutritional guidance
  • Strong interpersonal skills for effective communication with colleagues, pet owners, and the community
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-based environment
  • Experience or interest in small animal medicine and surgery (preferred)
  • Experience in exotic medicine (preferred)
