Veterinary Extern - General Practice
Gain real clinical experience in a supportive, medicine-focused practice. This externship at Egan Animal Hospital gives you hands-on learning with experienced mentors — plus travel/living expense support.
About the Role
This externship offers veterinary students a chance to step into day-to-day practice operations and build genuine clinical skills in a collaborative environment. You'll work alongside Associate Veterinarians, learning how to gather patient histories, perform physical exams, develop treatment plans, handle diagnostics, and assist in or observe surgical procedures. Dentistry and medical management of patients are also part of the mix.
Beyond the technical skills, you'll develop your communication abilities — working with the medical team, support staff, and clients. Externships typically run between two to eight weeks, depending on your schedule and the hospital's needs. All veterinary students, regardless of class year, are welcome to apply.
