Veterinary Technician Practicum
Ready to launch your RVT career? This final-year practicum at a hybrid general practice and 24-hour emergency hospital gives you real-world experience in everything from surgery to emergency care — plus a travel stipend to ease the load.
About the Role
This is your chance to bridge the gap between classroom and clinic. Family Pet Hospital & 24Hr Emergency Centre welcomes final-year veterinary technician students into a supportive practicum environment where you'll work alongside experienced RVTs and veterinarians. The hospital's hybrid model means you'll gain hands-on experience in both general practice and emergency medicine — a rare combination that sets you up for a versatile career.
You'll develop clinical skills across patient care, laboratory procedures, anesthesia, surgical assistance, and radiology. Don't worry if emergency medicine feels intimidating; the team is committed to building your confidence and preparing you for whatever cases walk through the door. The practicum is flexible, ranging from two to eight weeks, so you can tailor the experience to fit your schedule and career goals.
