About the Role

Mississauga-Oakville Veterinary Emergency Hospital is seeking a Board-certified Criticalist or Board Eligible veterinarian to join their specialty emergency team in Oakville. You'll provide advanced critical care to hospitalized and emergency patients (averaging 4–6 cases), lead ICU treatment planning, and work closely alongside emergency veterinarians and other specialists in a collaborative, team-focused environment.

You'll guide emergency doctors, interns, and veterinary technicians, helping shape the next generation of emergency medicine professionals. Key Responsibilities

  • Provide advanced critical care to hospitalized and emergency patients (typically 4–6 cases per shift)
  • Lead ICU case management, develop treatment protocols, and oversee patient care plans
  • Collaborate with emergency veterinarians and specialty service associates in a team-based model
  • Participate in case discussion rounds to drive clinical learning and team development
  • Mentor emergency doctors, interns, and veterinary technicians, supporting their professional growth and confidence

Requirements

  • Board certification (AVCECC, DACVECC, or ECVECC) in Critical Care, or Board Eligible status
  • DVM degree with Ontario licensure eligibility
  • Strong team player with excellent communication and leadership skills
  • Positive, collegial personality and genuine enjoyment working alongside specialists, emergency doctors, and technicians
  • Demonstrated mentoring mindset and commitment to training and developing staff at all levels
