About the Role

Mayfield Animal Hospital is recruiting a Veterinarian to cover a maternity leave position on a fixed-term, full-time basis. Key Responsibilities

  • Provide preventative care and health assessments for small companion animals, identifying and addressing issues such as obesity management, gastrointestinal concerns, dermatology, otology, and dental problems
  • Perform soft tissue surgery, spay and neuter procedures, and dental procedures with confidence and technical skill
  • Deliver nutritional counselling and dietary recommendations tailored to individual patients and their owners' needs
  • Build strong relationships with pet parents through clear communication and client education
  • Collaborate with the veterinary team to promote team-based medicine practices
  • Mentor and coach veterinary students and support staff in their professional development
  • Engage with the local community through VCA Canada initiatives

Requirements

  • Valid DVM licence or equivalent, with authority to practise veterinary medicine in Canada
  • Competence and confidence in soft tissue surgery, spay/neuter, and dental procedures
  • Knowledge and experience in preventative care and nutritional counselling for companion animals
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, clients, and community members
  • Commitment to team-based medicine and collaborative practice
  • Passion for mentoring and supporting veterinary students and early-career professionals
  • Genuine love for companion animals and dedication to animal welfare
