Gain hands-on clinical experience at a supportive NVA hospital in Squamish. Work alongside experienced veterinarians, develop your surgical and diagnostic skills, and get paid for your externship.

About the Role

This externship at Eagleview Veterinary Hospital offers veterinary students a practical introduction to day-to-day practice operations and real clinical experience. You'll work closely with Associate Veterinarians, developing core skills across the full scope of general practice — from patient assessment and physical exams through diagnostics, dentistry, and surgical procedures.

Most externships run between two to eight weeks, depending on your school schedule and the hospital's needs. You'll gain hands-on experience in gathering patient histories, creating treatment plans, assisting with or performing procedures, and managing medical cases. Beyond the technical work, you'll sharpen your communication skills working with the medical team, support staff, and clients — a crucial part of becoming a well-rounded veterinarian.

Externships are open to all veterinary students, regardless of class year, though students in their clinical rotation are eligible for a travel and living expense stipend to support relocation.
