Veterinary Extern - General Practice
Gain hands-on clinical experience at a welcoming, mentorship-focused hospital that genuinely invests in student learning. Work with a supportive team caring for diverse species — from dogs and cats to reptiles and birds.
About the Role
Join Gananoque Veterinary Clinic for an externship designed to build your clinical confidence and communication skills in a genuinely supportive environment. You'll work closely with experienced Associate Veterinarians, gaining hands-on experience in patient history gathering, physical examinations, treatment planning, diagnostics, dentistry, and surgical procedures. Whether observing or actively participating, you'll develop both clinical and interpersonal skills while working alongside the hospital's engaged support staff and interacting with clients.
Externships typically run 2–8 weeks depending on your schedule and the hospital's needs. All veterinary students — regardless of class year — are welcome to apply. If you're in the clinical portion of your education, you may be eligible for a travel and living expense stipend to support your placement.
