About the Role

Animal Emergency Clinic of the Fraser Valley is seeking an experienced veterinary surgeon—or an ambitious surgical talent ready to step into leadership—to help establish a specialty surgical service at a rapidly evolving referral and emergency center. This is your chance to shape the direction of a surgical program from inception, working in a modern 8,000 sq ft AAHA-accredited hospital with two fully equipped surgical suites, 64-slice CT, ultrasound, endoscope, in-house lab, and a robust blood bank.

Based in Langley on BC's Lower Mainland (less than 3 hours north of Seattle), you'll enjoy a location that blends outdoor adventure with urban culture. The caseload is diverse and engaging, and in summer 2025 the hospital added a Board Certified Internal Medicine Specialist—a sign of the momentum behind this growing specialty network. You'll be joining a collaborative community where growth and innovation are real.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and develop the surgical service, establishing protocols and standards of care
• Perform complex surgical cases across the full spectrum of emergency and elective procedures
• Collaborate with the internal medicine specialist and wider team on referral cases
• Mentor and support surgical team members as the service expands
• Contribute to the hospital's evolution into a premier referral center
• Participate in case management, diagnostics, and patient care within the equipped surgical suites

Requirements

• Proven experience as a veterinary surgeon in emergency and/or referral settings
• Strong surgical skills and demonstrated ability to manage complex cases
• Leadership mindset and ability to build and grow a service line
• Collaborative approach to working within a multidisciplinary team
