About the Role
The Atlantic Veterinary College at the University of Prince Edward Island is seeking a board-certified small animal internal medicine specialist for a one-year term faculty position (July 6, 2026 – July 2, 2027) at the Assistant Professor level. You'll be joining an established internal medicine program alongside three faculty internists, three residents, and four to five rotating interns—a thriving clinical and teaching environment with real depth.
This role balances clinical practice, teaching, and professional development. You'll provide clinical service in the Veterinary Teaching Hospital, contribute to both undergraduate and graduate programs, and help shape the next generation of veterinarians. The hospital sits on the country's beautiful east coast with easy access to beaches all around, combining a sophisticated clinical setting with a genuinely livable community. Key Responsibilities
- Provide clinical service in the Veterinary Teaching Hospital, managing internal medicine cases with access to advanced diagnostic equipment (rigid and flexible endoscopy, CO2 laser, mobile fluoroscopy, 64-slice helical CT scanner, 1.5T MRI)
- Teach in undergraduate and graduate veterinary programs
- Contribute to extension and continuing education programs
- Collaborate with faculty, residents, and interns in a team-based clinical environment
- Participate in the intellectual life of the Department of Companion Animals
Requirements
- DVM (or equivalent international degree)
- Board certification by ACVIM or ECVIM
- Demonstrated teaching ability
- Strong collaboration, relationship-building, and communication skills
- Eligibility for licensure with the Prince Edward Island Veterinary Medical Association
